Cambodia – Gold Country
Due to its geological composition, with its special tectonics and volcanic past, Cambodia is richly endowed with mineral resources of all kinds. From oil, iron ore, magnetite, copper ore, cobalt, lead, tin, antimony, manganese, silver, platinum and of course gold, to the most precious gemstones such as rubies and sapphires, everything is available. The metals, mostly bound in sulfides and pyrites as well as in quartz veins and their surrounding rock, are found in primary deposits and oxidized secondary deposits, embedded in erosion material. In most deposits, the ore-bearing layers can be found at a depth of several meters and can be mined inexpensively in open-cast mines.
Some efforts are already being made to develop these values, but only a few projects are really professional and almost all deposits have not yet been developed.
There is simply a lack of the necessary expert knowledge and experience.
